What we build

Tub, shower, or a full reconfiguration.

Cost per square foot runs higher in a bathroom than anywhere else in the house, because so much is packed into so little space. Two things drive the spread: whether the plumbing moves, and how much tile work is involved.

A tiled shower with a bench, a niche and frameless glass is a different job from a one-piece surround — and the labour is most of that difference, not the materials.

  • Tub-to-walk-in-shower conversions
  • Custom tiled showers, benches and niches
  • Frameless glass and curbless entries
  • Double vanities and comfort-height fit-outs
  • Heated floors and upgraded ventilation
  • Full layout reconfiguration

Why Legion Build

What is behind the tile matters more than the tile.

01

Waterproofing done right

Proper membrane, slope and drainage are what stop a beautiful shower becoming a problem in five years. It is the least visible part of the job and the part we will not rush.

02

Ventilation sized properly

Undersized or missing extraction is the most common defect we find in older Jersey bathrooms, and it is the root of most mould and paint failure.

03

One bathroom, one crew

A bathroom is a short job on paper and a disruptive one in a house with only one. We schedule tightly and keep the same people on it start to finish.

What it costs

Three bathrooms, three budgets.

These are the bands we see across Monmouth and the surrounding counties — project totals for a standard-sized bathroom.

Tile labour and plumbing relocation are the two levers that move a bathroom quote most. More detail in our Monmouth County bathroom cost breakdown.

Recent work

A few bathrooms we’ve built.

How it works

Short job, high disruption — so we plan it tightly.

Especially in a house with one bathroom. Everything is on site before the room comes apart.

STAGE 01

Design & quote

Adam measures, works through layout, fixtures and tile, and gives you a written quote with the scope spelled out.

STAGE 02

Permits

Plumbing and electrical work is permitted in New Jersey. Moving a drain line or adding circuits means drawings and inspection. We file.

STAGE 03

Order first

Tile, vanity, glass and fixtures are on hand before demolition, so the bathroom is never out of service waiting on a delivery.

STAGE 04

Build & inspect

Demolition, rough plumbing and electrical, inspection, waterproofing, tile, then fixtures and glass. One crew throughout.

Frameless glass is measured after the tile is set, so it arrives last — that gap is normal and we tell you about it up front.

Before you commit

Four decisions worth taking seriously.

A bathroom you reconfigure badly is a room you live with every day.

01

Tub or walk-in shower

The most common request we get, and usually right in a main bathroom used by adults. Keep at least one tub in the house if you have small children or plan to sell.

02

Does the plumbing move

Keeping the toilet, vanity and shower where they are holds the cost down sharply. Relocating a drain line is the single biggest jump in a bathroom quote.

03

How much tile work

A bench, a niche, a curbless entry and large-format tile all add labour, and labour is most of the cost difference between a basic and a high-end bathroom.

04

Accessibility now or later

Curbless entry, blocking for future grab bars and a comfort-height vanity cost very little to build in now and a great deal to retrofit.

Common questions

Bathroom questions we get asked.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Monmouth County?

Most fall between $18,000 and $55,000+. Roughly $18k–$25k for a basic remodel in the existing layout, $25k–$40k for a custom tiled shower with some plumbing moved, and $40k–$55k+ for a full reconfiguration with frameless glass and heated floor.

How long will my bathroom be out of service?

Usually a matter of weeks rather than months, and the order of operations is what keeps it short. Tile, vanity, glass and fixtures are all on site before demolition starts. Frameless glass is the one item measured after tile is set, so it arrives at the end.

Should I convert my tub to a walk-in shower?

In a main bathroom used by adults, usually yes — it is the most common request we get. Keep at least one tub somewhere in the house if you have small children or expect to sell, because buyers still look for one.

Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel?

If you are moving plumbing or adding electrical circuits, yes. Swapping fixtures in place often does not require one. We prepare the drawings and file where a permit is needed, and handle the inspections.

What makes one bathroom cost twice as much as another the same size?

Two things: whether the plumbing moves, and how much tile work is involved. A tiled shower with a bench, a niche and frameless glass is far more labour than a one-piece surround, and labour is most of that difference.

Can you fix a bathroom that keeps getting mouldy?

Usually the cause is ventilation rather than cleaning. Undersized or missing extraction is the most common defect we find in older Jersey bathrooms. Sizing the fan correctly and venting it properly outside solves most cases.

Is a heated floor worth it?

It is one of the few upgrades people consistently tell us they are glad they paid for, and it is far cheaper to install while the floor is already up than to retrofit later. It is also an efficient way to take the chill off a small room.

Can you make the bathroom more accessible?

Yes, and it is worth building in early. Curbless entry, blocking in the walls for future grab bars and a comfort-height vanity add very little to the cost now and a great deal if retrofitted later.
